What’s fat got to do with it?
What’s the big deal?
I have been given a rare glimpse into a world of individuals who found themselves unwell. They were needing to change something health related and most had reached the point of purpose and intent. They were tired of fighting so hard and were committed to understanding and change. Some dealt with serious life-threatening encounters where if no change then death was evident. Some with less threatening issues, they wanted to lose weight but no major health complications that brought fear-based change. Then there was many somewhere in between deaths door and weight loss.
With the chance to sit among the co-hurting and bewildered, I learned that we were not so different them and I. They were taught that fat was bad, they did what they could to avoid adding it to meals and trim it off if it was there. You know, like pull off the skins of the chicken and trim the fat off the steak? I used to rinse my burger meat of the grease, I was so locked in to low fat diet. I used to sneak the skins of my chicken when my husband wasn’t looking. I was ashamed for wanting it so much.
When I began my journey to learn better healthier ways to eat, I entered the world of dietary animal fat eating with great skepticism. I resisted it for years after learning it’s place. I crossed paths with a group that taught to do things call “prime” and “fat fast”. What in the world where they even talking about? That’s insane! But as I began to dabble in this mindset that seemed to be healing and life altering for so many I found these amazing benefits. Like cortisol that is out of whack whether high or low loves fat. It does take time and it does need tweaked but it loves fat and I began to feel better soon after dosing dietary animal fat into my life. I educated and studied and revisited already watched video’s explaining the what, when, why, and how of fat consumption. Life began to look very different from then on. I developed clearer thinking, weight loss, better sleep, much better moods, I am in the midst of menopause at the writing of this blog and I haven’t a single symptom to indicate it is so.
Animal fat helps hormones. Animal fat helps with insulin resistance and glucose regulation. Animal fat helps the thyroid. Animal fat helps cortisol. Animal fat helps with heart health. Animal fat helps with cholesterol. Animal fat helps with obesity. Animal fat helps with brain health. Animal fat helps the nervous system. Animal fat helps with a plethora of illness and disease. It should not be overlooked and demonized.
Some people need a lot of fat daily to health and wellness. Some need just a bite or two extra with a meal. When you find your happy dose. Watch how things feel after that.
